Designing a dress for senior prom

It has long been a dream of mine to design and create my senior prom dress. That having been said, design and creation are two very different and sometimes contradictory processes, and as I begin this project it seems somewhat doubtful whether the dress I drew in my sketchpad and the dress that I will eventually wear will be even remotely similar.
